Ceer, Saudi Arabia’s electric vehicle (EV) brand and original equipment manufacturer (OEM), has marked a significant milestone by awarding a SAR5 billion ($1.3 billion) contract for the construction of the Ceer Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Complex in King Abdullah Economic City. With this investment, Ceer underscores its commitment to advancing Saudi Arabia’s mobility industry and supporting the goals of Vision 2030.

State-of-the-art facility

Ceer awarded the contract to Saudi company Modern Building Leaders (MBL) to build a cutting-edge facility spanning over 1 million square meters. The complex will boast an area under roof of 530,000 square meters. It will include dedicated zones for every stage of vehicle production. This includes a press shop, body shop, paint shop, and general assembly. Additionally, the facility will feature logistics zones, waste management facilities, warehouses, and offices. It will also include a water treatment system and a vehicle test track.

“This complex will be a benchmark for industrial excellence within the region and globally. It will feature the best technologies, equipment, and people,” said Jim DeLuca, CEO of Ceer. Moreover, the project will be supported by partnerships with global industry leaders such as Dürr, Schuler, Siemens, and ABB.

Supporting Vision 2030

Ceer’s investment in the Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Complex represents a significant step forward in Saudi Arabia’s journey towards a sustainable and diversified economy. As Saudi Arabia’s first electric vehicle brand and OEM, Ceer is a joint venture between PIF and Foxconn. The company aims to support the electric vehicle sector which aligns with Vision 2030’s aspirations for economic diversification, carbon emission reduction, and sustainable development. Ceer aims to design, manufacture, and supply technologically sophisticated electric sedans and SUVs. Moreover, it leverages advanced systems from both Foxconn and BMW from its base of operations in King Abdullah Economic City, Saudi Arabia.
