Saudi Arabia has set a new record in its tourism sector following the multiple achievements it made in 2023. Preliminary data by the Saudi Central Bank reveals that foreign visitors set a new record in spending last year, reaching SAR135 billion ($36 billion). This marks the highest expenditure by foreign visitors in the Kingdom’s history with a growth of 42.8 percent compared to 2022.

This historic surge in spending is symbolic of Saudi Arabia’s sustained efforts to bolster its tourism industry. In 2023, the Kingdom emerged as a frontrunner on the global tourism stage. It led the UN tourism list for the growth rate of international tourists compared to 2019. Achieving a remarkable 56 percent increase in tourist arrivals, Saudi Arabia demonstrated its growing appeal as a tourist destination.

International recognition

Saudi Arabia’s tourism achievements earned international acclaim from prominent organizations such as the UN World Tourism Organization and the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).
