A strategic cooperation agreement was signed between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Brazilian Space Agency, marking a significant step toward enhancing collaborative efforts in peaceful space exploration. This agreement, SPA reported, was part of the fifth G20 Space Economy Leaders Meeting, held lately in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, where Dr. Mohammed Altamimi, vice chairman and CEO of the Saudi Space Agency, led the Saudi delegation.

The meeting, which originated during Saudi Arabia’s G20 presidency, focused on the theme “Space Economy and Climate Change: Challenges and Opportunities.” Altamimi highlighted the Kingdom’s advancements in its space sector, emphasizing its commitment to leveraging space technology for sustainable development and climate change mitigation.
During the event, he participated in dialogue sessions on innovation, entrepreneurship, and climate challenges, presenting the Saudi Space Agency’s initiatives aimed at enhancing infrastructure, stimulating investment, and utilizing space technology for sustainable outcomes.
In addition to the agreement with Brazil, Altamimi held bilateral discussions with his counterparts from Brazil and India to explore cooperation in the space economy and related technologies. He also met with leaders of major Brazilian space companies to discuss investment opportunities and strategic partnerships.
