In a press release, the airport reported handling an impressive 3.5 million passengers in July 2024, surpassing the previous record of 3.1 million passengers set just the month prior in June – an increase of 400,000 travelers. According to the announcement, the airport reached a new single-day high on Thursday, August 1, 2024, with 130,000 passengers, eclipsing the earlier peaks of 125,000 on July 25 and 124,000 on June 13. Additionally, in July, the airport achieved a remarkable seat occupancy rate of 91 percent, showcasing its exceptional operational efficiency.
Riyadh Airports Company CEO Ayman Abdulaziz AboAbah stated that the airport’s consistent achievement of these record-breaking operational figures underscored the dedication of the Riyadh Airports team and their partners to enhancing efficiency and delivering the best possible experience for travelers.
Despite the global technical challenges facing the aviation sector, RAC reported that the airport maintained an impressive 88 percent on-time departure rate in June and 84 percent in July 2024, demonstrating its commitment to service excellence and robust business continuity plans.
In May 2024, Saudi Arabia’s aviation regulatory body, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), announced that King Khalid International Airport had claimed the number one position in the category of airports receiving over 15 million passengers per year, achieving an 82 percent compliance rate.
