The Aseer Region Development Authority recently launched The Second Industrial City in Aseer. The development extends over an area estimated at 17.3 million square meters. It is expected to meet the growing demand for industrial investment in the region.

Future directions for industry development

Aseer’s Governor Prince Turki bin Talal Al Saud expressed his appreciation for the wise leadership during the launch of The Second Industrial City. He acknowledged the complementary view that development plans have in Saudi Arabia in general and in the Aseer region in particular. The industrial city is an example of how Saudi Arabia is connecting development projects to optimize their collective impact.

The country has clear future directions for developing the industrial sector as one of the main pillars of its economic diversification. The Second Industrial City is expected to provide thousands of jobs for the people of Aseer. In addition, it is consistent with the strategic objectives of the Aseer region outlined in the Qimam and Shem strategy.

For his part, the Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar bin Ibrahim AlKhorayef, expressed his pride in having a new industrial city in the Aseer region. The development will highlight the region’s immense capabilities enhance the growth and development of the national industrial sector. The project also falls in line with Saudi’s Vision 2030 and the National Strategy for Industry.

Aseer, a success story

AlKhorayef stressed that the new city is a success story that represents the great capabilities Saudi Arabia has. Saudi Arabia seeks to achieve a distinct competitive reality that the industrial and mining sectors aspire towards. Moreover, it aims to create an attractive investment climate for various economic activities.

The Second Industrial City in Aseer, in addition to other major projects, was established in strategic partnership with the Aseer Region Development Authority to drive development in the region. Other projects include the Al-Soudah Peak, Ardara, and the new Abha International Airport. The project falls within the framework of Modon in the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program.  It seeks to achieve its strategy, empower the industrial sector, and contribute to increasing the sector’s local content.

Raising the capabilities of the industrial sector

The Second Industrial City integrates with the first industrial city in Aseer seamlessly to provide services and products that contribute to raising the capabilities of the industrial sector. The cities create a model environment that aligns with national ambitions for integration and cooperation between the public and private sectors.

Moreover, they achieved their sustainable impact according to a comprehensive vision aimed at activating the developmental role of the industrial sector. Thus, the efforts to build those cities fall in line with Aseer’s development strategy and are consistent with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

Besides, Modon is working on developing an area of two million square meters during the first phase of the new city. The Second Industrial City is located in the Al-Hafayer, northwest of Khamis Mushait Governorate. The city will be linked to multiple road networks that contribute to the quality management of the entire supply chain. This includes providing the project with raw materials and delivering industrial products. Moreover, the first phase includes implementing infrastructure development projects. This includes road networks, electricity, water, medium voltage firefighting techniques, and treated water. In addition, the first phase will implement a sewage treatment plant, to establish a competitive and sustainable industrial city.
