NEOM, Saudi Arabia’s mega sustainable development in the north-west, has revealed that 50,000 people in local communities benefited from its social responsibility (SR) programs and initiatives last year.
NEOM recently released its Annual Social Responsibility Report for 2023, outlining the number of beneficiaries receiving assistance from the development last year through its various social responsibility programs and initiatives. The report highlights the project’s efforts in enhancing human livability through a series of pioneering schemes and initiatives.
Supporting Tabuk
The mega-project awarded 26 projects to companies in Tabuk, benefitting 583 people who secured employment through its job creation initiatives. In addition, the social return on investment from the project’s Seven Senses Program exceeded SAR40 million.
The report also highlighted NEOM’s commitment to driving socio-economic engagement, building human capabilities, and supporting local communities through sustainable and high-value initiatives. It emphasizes the development’s role in inspiring global social responsibility approaches through three tracks: Accelerating Progress, Embedding Value, and Enhancing Quality of Life.
Notably, NEOM’s social responsibility strategy has four key pillars:
- Leveraging partnership opportunities
- Empowering community and individuals
- Accelerating economic diversification
- Driving long-term value
“A common theme among these pillars is instilling the values of participation and cooperation among everyone in what serves society, an endeavor that NEOM prides itself for driving successfully in various ways,” stated NEOM CEO Nadhmi al-Nasr.

Upskilling local workforce
In addition to entrepreneurship support, the social responsibility program has also invested in upskilling the local workforce through its career counseling services.
Under the Enhancing Quality of Life track, NEOM has implemented a range of initiatives that aim to improve the well-being of local communities. One notable program is the Family Support Scheme, which provides essential items such as car seats, school kits, and household appliances to families in need.
The program distributed more than 10,000 car seats for children and newborns, 3,000 school kits, 2,200 winter kits, and more than 1,000 shopping vouchers during the holy month of Ramadan.
Under the ‘Embedding Value’ track, NEOM’s social responsibility program focused on fostering a culture of volunteering and philanthropy within the NEOM community. The report highlights the success of the NEOM volunteer program, which has engaged around 1,000 volunteers in various community projects and initiatives.
