Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, excel in mobile network experiences, as per Opensignal’s latest report.

Saudi Arabia stands out with a remarkable 22 percent 5G availability, showing significant infrastructure progress.

Opensignal, a global mobile network analytics authority, highlights the impressive strides of the GCC in the past year. This reinforces the leading position of Gulf countries as trailblazers in mobile network excellence within the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region. This progress bodes well for mobile connectivity in GCC nations, setting a global standard to emulate.

Opensignal Study

Opensignal compared mobile experiences in the GCC to neighboring EMEA markets in a comprehensive study of 40 markets, including 32 with 5G coverage. The report examined overall user experience and network progress over the past year, and also recognized mobile operators in each GCC market that excel in providing exceptional experiences, based on prestigious awards from Opensignal mobile network experience reports.

In the past year, GCC nations improved download speeds. These improvements range from 13.6 percent to 77.6 percent. They now lead in EMEA mobile network excellence. Qatar, in particular, boasts unmatched 5G Download Speeds.

Key Findings

Balanced User Experience: GCC countries have attained a seamless mobile network experience, both in general and particularly on 5G networks. Among them, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar have distinguished themselves as exceptional performers for users on the latest generation network.

Impressive Download Speed Gains: Except for the UAE, the GCC markets have seen significant enhancements in overall Download Speed Experience in the last year. Qatar achieved the highest increase at 24.3 percent, while Saudi also noted a substantial 13.6 percent rise.

5G Dominance: Qatar stands as the frontrunner in 5G speeds, showcasing an impressive 20.8 percent surge in 5G Download Speed. Within the EMEA region, the GCC markets shine with top-notch 5G speeds, consistently surpassing 200Mbps in average 5G download speeds.

Availability Prowess: The UAE and Qatar take the lead in overall availability, with users enjoying connections to 3G, 4G, or 5G signals 98.9 percent of the time. Saudi, Bahrain, and Kuwait also shine in terms of 5G availability, with Kuwait leading the way with 37.6 percent.
