Aircraft company Eve Air Mobility and flynas, the prominent low-cost airline in the world and the Middle East, jointly declared the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at investigating the potential of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft operations in Saudi Arabia. As part of their collaboration, the partners intend to assess the feasibility of launching eVTOL services in Riyadh and Jeddah by the year 2026.

Bander Almohanna, CEO and managing director of flynas, said: “We are pleased to explore the sustainable solutions with Eve Air Mobility as a pioneering company in this field, in line with flynas’ strategy to adopt initiatives with sustainable impact on the environment, society, and economy in parallel with the national goals to neutralize greenhouse gas emissions by 2060”.

This agreement will play a significant role in advancing Saudi Arabia’s aviation industry by establishing and nurturing a local ecosystem for electric flights. The partnership will not only contribute to the sustainability goals outlined in Vision 2030 but also help achieve ambitious targets within the aviation sector.

Another option for urban transportation

With flynas currently operating over 1,500 weekly flights to more than 70 destinations both domestically and internationally, the joint endeavor between Eve and flynas to introduce eVTOL flights in Saudi Arabia will offer travelers an additional mode of urban transportation. This collaboration reinforces the companies’ dedication to shaping the future of electric aviation and providing the region with efficient, safe, and sustainable transportation options.
