On Saudi National Day, Diriyah etched its name in history by achieving a Guinness World Record for the largest display of artificial intelligence (AI) assistant devices. This record-setting event featured more than 500 Amazon Echo devices equipped with Alexa voice assistants and was part of the 94th Saudi National Day festivities.
According to a statement from the Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA), the Echo devices were synchronized to play the Saudi national anthem and other patriotic melodies, providing visitors at Bujairi Terrace with a unique and immersive experience. Officials from Guinness World Records were present to witness this remarkable achievement.
Kanzy El Defrawy, Official Guinness World Records senior adjudicator, congratulated Diriyah on achieving the Guinness World Records title for the largest display of virtual assistant devices. Furthermore, he noted that Diriyah has consistently led in introducing innovative entertainment to the people of Saudi Arabia and that this achievement exemplifies their commitment to blending artificial intelligence with cultural celebrations.

Additionally, Jerry Inzerillo, CEO of DGDA, conveyed his pride in the achievement, noting that this historic moment underscores Saudi Arabia’s spirit of innovation and Diriyah’s commitment to preserving and promoting its rich heritage and culture.

Dr. Raf Fatani, Amazon MENA’s regional general manager for Alexa, remarked that their participation in the record-setting endeavor reflects a deep respect for the Kingdom’s rich culture and heritage. He further added that through this partnership, they weave a tapestry that links artificial intelligence with the lasting aspects of Saudi culture.
A festive celebration at Diriyah
The release indicated that this achievement was just one of many events held throughout Diriyah, including activities at the historic UNESCO World Heritage Site of At-Turaif, to commemorate the 94th Saudi National Day. Moreover, the celebrations attracted thousands of visitors, offering insights into Saudi Arabia’s authentic national identity and highlighting the rich culture of the Kingdom’s first capital.
