Hotels in Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh have reported better performance after COVID-19 restrictions eased, with occupancy levels, room rates, and revenue per available room (RevPAR) exceeding pre-pandemic levels.
Occupancy rates averaged 56.5 percent in June this year, higher than the month prior, hotel data provider STR said on Wednesday.
The average daily rate (ADR) and RevPAR stood at 580.61 riyals and 328.17 riyals, respectively.
“While ADR and RevPAR fell month over month, each of the three key performance metrics came in higher than the pre-pandemic comparable,” STR said.
Saudi had further eased Covid-19 restrictions in March, including social distancing inside mosques and holy sites.
In May, Jeddah reported its highest performance level since September 2019, with the occupancy rate touching 64 percent in May, according to STR.
In March, a report showed that hotels in Al Khobar outperformed those in Saudi’s other major cities, with RevPAR surpassing pre-pandemic levels in 2021.
Last year, Riyadh, Dammam, and Jeddah, recorded recovery index rates of 88 percent, 85 percent, and 56 percent, respectively.
