Saudi Telecom Company (stc) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Merwas, an audio-visual production company, to enhance cooperation in education, content creation, and music production. The agreement aims to promote and strengthen Saudi Arabia’s audio identity as well as enrich its culture. It also aims to develop local skills in arts, music, vocal performance, and audio content creation.
The signing ceremony took place at stc’s headquarters in Riyadh, between Mohammed bin Rashid Abaalkheil, executive vice president of corporate relations for stc; and Nada Al-Tuwaijri, CEO of Merwas.
Developing local content
stc and Merwas are seeking to cooperate in the field of audio content creation which includes programs and podcasts. The MoU also includes launching awareness campaigns for music producers and promoting the culture of intellectual property ownership of content.
The scope of work between stc and Merwas also includes cooperation between the academies of both parties. In addition, Merwas has committed to developing, designing, and producing audio materials and musical compositions to enhance the audio identity of stc.
Commenting on the memorandum, Abaalkheil said that this bilateral agreement aligns with stc’s interest in expanding the digital footprint of various aspects of Saudi’s culture. The agreement takes advantage of the group’s enormous digital capabilities and resources. This coincides with stc’s endeavor to deepen the horizons of cooperation with national companies and institutions in the cultural field to enhance the development of local content. In addition, it enhances the visibility of the Saudi identity through the group’s various communication channels.

Digital empowerment
For her part, Al-Tuwaijri pointed out the importance of the agreement, stating that cooperation with stc opens a great window for digitizing a broad range of Saudi’s cultural landscape. Marwas will work on diversifying audio content with creative ideas while making more room for Saudi talent. In addition, the agreement also calls for creating an innovative audio identity for stc.
Merwas is optimistic about this partnership and is keen to support the development of Saudi culture. The company believes Saudi’s culture is a rich source of local content.
Notably, the agreement comes as a continuation of stc’s investment in local content creation and development. For stc, it is important to give Saudi talent a platform that will empower and give them an opportunity to produce a wide range of local content.
