SAUDIA, the national flag carrier of Saudi Arabia, announced flights between Red Sea International Airport and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh have begun.
The maiden flight, SV1571, departed from Riyadh at 10:50 am on Thursday, September 21, covering the distance in just two hours. This flight route is scheduled to be two flights from Riyadh and the same from the Red Sea International Airport on Thursday and Saturday.
This milestone reflects SAUDIA’s ongoing commitment to further expand its growing network and building upon its successful operations at NEOM Bay Airport.
Red Sea Global is the developer behind the ambitious six-runway airport – and numerous other Saudi tourism projects.
The launch is a result of collaborative efforts between SAUDIA, Red Sea Global, and daa International – the operators of the Red Sea International Airport.

Sector jobs
The announcement that Saudi’s Red Sea International (RSI) Airport will open by the end of 2023 prompted an increase in Saudi transport and tourism jobs, according to GlobalData research.
Analysis by GlobalData showed a 32.9% increase in transport jobs from August 2022 to August 2023.
Construction of the airport has begun.
Initially, only domestic flights to and from Riyadh, and later Jeddah, will be available before the airport takes on international flights midway through 2024.
