Saudi’s Sudair city witnessed the inauguration of the first oncology pharmaceutical plant, marking a significant milestone in the pharmaceutical and food sectors. The facility is one of three new factories established in the region.

The Kingdom’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia, Bandar bin Ibrahim AlKhorayef, officially inaugurated three new factories in the pharmaceutical and food industries located in the city of Sudair City for Industry and Businesses. Notably, one of these factories is Saudi’s pioneering oncology and drug production plant, specializing in highly toxic substances.

Three new pharma plants

The factories consist of Sudair Pharma Company’s oncological drug production facility, first of its kind in the Kingdom for manufacturing high-toxic drugs and various types of medications. Additionally, a plant for there is the General Specialty Pharmaceutical facility and the Gulf Catering Food Factory. The plants span over 95 thousand square meters, with investments totaling approximately 236 million riyals. The objective is to fulfill domestic demands while expanding exports to regional and global markets.

Sudair City for Industry and Businesses

Inaugurated in 2009, Sudair Industrial and Business City covers a vast area of 64 million square meters, with 16.9 million square meters specifically designated as an “upgraded area.” Within this thriving industrial hub, there are 350 factories operating across a diverse range of sectors. These include food production, pharmaceuticals, medical industries, manufacturing of computer and electronic products, optical products, base metals, electrical equipment, chemicals and related products, rubber and plastic products, other non-metallic metals, formed metal products, as well as the production of building materials, porcelain, and glass. The city serves as a vibrant center for industrial activities, fostering growth and innovation in multiple sectors.
