Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman launched the “Trogina” project as a global destination for mountain tourism, as part of the “NEOM” plan and strategy to contribute to supporting and developing the tourism sector in the region.
The development of this project is expected to be completed in 2026, adding 3 billion riyals to the country’s GDP and providing more than 10,000 jobs by 2030.
The “Trojena” project represents the third step in the journey of establishing “NEOM”, after “The Line” and “Oxagon”. It aims to attract more than 700,000 visitors, and about 7,000 permanent residents in the Trogina Village and adjacent residential sectors.
Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as Chairman of the Board of Directors of NEOM, indicated that the “Trojena” project “will contribute to redefining the concept of global mountain tourism by providing an environmentally friendly system in all its dimensions, in line with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to enhance the quality of life.”
He added: “It will also constitute a qualitative addition to tourism projects in the region, based on investing in the geographical and environmental diversity of the various regions of the Kingdom, which contributes to diversifying the sources of national income and benefiting from natural resources.”
Earlier last year, Prince Mohammed bin Salman launched the “The Line” project, which is a 170-kilometer long city of 1 million people. In mid-November, he announced “Oxagon” which represents a futuristic zero-carbon industrial city.
For his part, the CEO of “NEOM” Nazmi Al-Nasr explained in a statement to “Bloomberg” that work on “Trojena” began two and a half years ago, during which time many investors were contacted, and “we saw encouraging reactions because the project is promising. We are currently seeking to create an integrated group that includes banks and tourism investors to be the investment body for the project.”
Trogina is stationed in the center of Neom, 50 kilometers from the coast of the Gulf of Aqaba, in the region characterized by a group of the highest mountain peaks in Saudi Arabia, with an altitude of about 2,600 meters above sea level.
Trogina, located on a mountain 2,600 meters above sea level, consists of six neighborhoods: Gateway, Discovery, Valley, Search, Relax, and Fun. It will include a range of hotels, health and family spas, retail and restaurants, as well as various sports and an interactive reserve.
The project includes a huge freshwater lake, but also The Bow underwater hotel, The Vault, which will be built vertically in the mountains, and the Slope Residences, which is located close to the ski slope overlooking the lake.
Trogina seeks to change the perception of visitors and residents about the services that can be provided by mountain resorts, due to its exceptional design, advanced architecture, and technology that integrates reality with the virtual world.
