Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has authorized India’s Akasa Air to operate regular flights between Saudi Arabia and India. Starting June 8, there will be 14 weekly flights from India to Jeddah, two flights from Ahmedabad, and 12 from Mumbai. In addition, starting July 4, there will be seven weekly flights to Riyadh from Mumbai.

This announcement falls in line with GACA’s goal of expanding Saudi Arabia’s flight network and air connectivity. Hence, the authority aims to further integrate Saudi Arabia into the global network, which supports the Kingdom’s path towards achieving its Vision 2030 objectives of transforming into a global logistics hub. In addition, GACA aims to expand Saudi Arabia’s horizons and boost its tourism sector in line with the Kingdom’s national aviation strategy.

In addition to flights to and from India, GACA has also recently authorized ITA Airways to operate regular flights between Saudi Arabia and Italy. Starting from June 2, the flights will operate from Rome to Riyadh during the summer season of 2024, with five flights per week.
