Red Sea Global (RSG) announced it will soon start renovating the Al Wajh Airport (EJH) in Saudi Arabia. Famous for its visionary tourism destinations, RSG will spearhead the renovation of the airport, modernizing it as well as upgrading its existing terminal and infrastructure. This is a significant step towards the transformation of this key transportation hub.

Enhancing connectivity

The focus of this development is the comprehensive modernization of Al Wajh Airport to be on par with global aviation standards. RSG aims to accomplish this by upgrading the existing terminal and infrastructure. It will also be constructing a state-of-the-art international terminal.

This expansion is set to make EJH capable of offering a broader number of direct flights across the region. This will significantly enhance regional connectivity and open up new job opportunities for the local population.

Moreover, the revamped Al Wajh Airport will play a pivotal role in servicing the area’s emerging developments. This includes serving as a gateway to the prestigious Amaala destination, another masterful creation of Red Sea Global.

Simultaneously, the airport is set to become the new base for Fly Red Sea, the Kingdom’s pioneering seaplane company.

John Pagano, RSG’s group CEO, shared his excitement regarding this endeavor, saying “Last year, Red Sea Global announced a growing portfolio of projects stretching along the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia. Today I can reveal the first of those projects is to refurbish Al Wajh Airport, making it a modern airport for the people of Tabuk”.

Future developments

The Al Wajh Airport modernization project is an important addition to a growing list of aviation initiatives by RSG. Last month, the Red Sea International Airport (RSI) witnessed the arrival of its first domestic flight.

Additionally, RSG is developing a second private airport in proximity to The Red Sea and Amaala destinations.

Due to ongoing renovations at EJH, four SAUDIA flights will be relocated from EJH to RSI starting 29 October. These flights will offer passengers convenient and improved access, with regular flight schedules connecting Riyadh and Jeddah.

In order to smoothly transition, RSG is offering free-of-charge shuttle services connecting RSI with Al Wajh Airport and Umluj.

In addition to the airport’s developments, the first two hotels are now open for bookings. Upon full completion in 2030, the destination will encompass 50 resorts with more than 8,000 hotel rooms. It will also boast more than 1,000 residential properties across 22 islands and six inland sites.

The destination will also feature luxury marinas, golf courses, entertainment venues, a diverse culinary scene, and an array of leisure facilities, contributing to a world-class tourism experience.
