In a bid to boost Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation, the National Housing Company (NHC) inked a contract with Korea’s Naver Cloud Platform to implement smart city solutions on the digital twin platform “Baladi”. This collaboration aims to adopt global best practices in the municipal and housing sectors across Saudi Arabia by utilizing innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced cloud services.

Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Majed bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, saw the signing of the agreement between NHC and Naver.

Facilitating digital solutions in Kingdom’s major cities

NHC and Naver’s integration of smart city solutions will facilitate the development of advanced digital solutions in major cities across Saudi Arabia. This includes 3D maps, simulation models for urban planning and flood management, and monitoring and control centers.

“This partnership represents an important step towards adopting digital technology and achieving digital transformation in the Kingdom,” stated Al-Hogail in a post on Linkedin.

Al-Hogail added that NHC’s partnership with NAVER also opens new horizons for digital innovation through the application of smart city solutions. “The digital twin technologies will be used to develop the Baladi platform, allowing us to improve the efficiency of municipal services and provide innovative solutions that meet the needs of the population,” he added.

Smart city solutions aim to achieve sustainable development by reducing environmental impact and improving the quality of life for residents.
