During the LEAP 2024 exhibition currently taking place in Riyadh, the Saudi Ministry of Media took part in various activities and entered into multiple agreements and memoranda of understanding with both local and international companies and entities. The signing ceremony was attended by Minister of Media Salman bin Yousef Al-Dosari. The agreements were signed by Vice Minister of Media Dr. Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Maghlouth.

Focus on AI and technical fields
One of the agreements was a cooperation agreement with Alibaba and Alibaba Cloud. The agreement aims to develop training programs for individuals working in the media sector, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and other technical fields. Furthermore, the agreement entails hosting the ministry’s infrastructure, services, and platforms, among others, within Alibaba Cloud’s data centers. This also includes hosting the Disaster Recovery Center and the next version of the Saudipedia encyclopedia.
Smart building infrastructure upgrade
Additionally, Al-Maghlouth signed an agreement with Cisco to enhance the Ministry’s emergency and disaster call center, as well as its smart building infrastructure. The collaboration involves integrating AI techniques into infrastructure development, equipping the Ministry’s facilities with advanced smart solutions, and organizing technical workshops by Cisco to improve the efficiency of technical operations and enhance the Ministry’s human capital.
Training opportunities for journalists
The ministry also signed an agreement with the Chinese company eWTPA to provide training opportunities for both local and international journalists. This partnership will facilitate comprehensive media support in Chinese, including translation, broadcasting, and publication of news related to the Saudi media sector. The agreement also encompasses funding and arranging visits between the two parties to exchange knowledge and experiences in the fields of entrepreneurship and media.
