According to a source close to Lionel Messi, the Argentine football star has been presented with a formal offer to join Saudi Arabian team Al-Hilal in the upcoming season. This offer stands as the sole proposal Messi has received thus far, as stated by the source.
Reports from Argentine media suggest that the deal could amount to a staggering $400 million annually. While rumors circulate in the media regarding a potential return to his childhood club Barcelona, there are also speculations of a prospective move to Inter Miami, a Major League Soccer club in the United States.
Earlier this week, Messi found himself suspended by his current club, Paris St Germain, due to an unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia. French sports daily L’Equipe disclosed the information and further revealed that PSG had chosen not to exercise their option to extend Messi’s contract for a third season.
Messi, serves already as a tourism ambassador for Saudi Arabia. Will he choose to follow in the footsteps of his long-standing rival Cristiano Ronaldo?
It is noteworthy that Ronaldo, in a move that turned heads last December, secured a deal with Saudi club Al-Nassr, reportedly worth an astounding $220 million per year.
