Saudi-listed ACWA Power, renowned for its expertise in water desalination and a trailblazer in the green hydrogen sector, has achieved a significant milestone with the Sudair solar photovoltaic Independent Power Plant (IPP) project.
ACWA Power obtained the commercial operation certification for the third group of the project from the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC). This marks the final quarter of the project’s 1.5 gigawatt capacity. This achievement follows the operationalization of 75 percent of the project in October 2023 when the second group received its commercial operation certificate.
Sudair solar project reaches full capacity
The Sudair solar project, a testament to ACWA Power’s commitment to renewable energy, has now reached its full operational capacity. With the commercial operation certification for the third group secured, the project will contribute significantly to Saudi Arabia’s renewable energy goals. Therefore, the Sudair solar photovoltaic IPP project is expected to play a crucial role in diversifying the country’s energy sources. Moreover, it reduces its reliance on traditional fossil fuels.
